32-Channel Analog Replay System with Advanced Framing
System 2921
DSPCon’s System 2921 is a 32-channel
digital replay system that accepts digitized video from a RAID device, processes
the image through a Power PC board to an 8-channel D/A with digital I/O interface,
and then plays back the data in infrared form.
System 2921 contains five single-board computers in a VME cage, with one being an
Intel PC running Windows XP/Vista that acts as the host computer. The other four are Power
PC boards running VxWorks. The host computer runs a user-friendly interface and
manages the clusters according to operator commands, entered through the use of
the Graphical User Interface (GUI). In addition, the host computer allows for remote
or local upload of the digitized video, allowing for several user locations to have
access to the data.
Ideal for production testing of infrared-based products, this system has been used
by defense-related organizations to simulate combat situations for testing of automated,
target-oriented missiles and other combat weapons.
Features:
- Output of 32 channels of digitized video input
- Four channel groups (clusters) consisting of bulk storage, providing data at the
rate of 32 Mbytes per second to a fast processor
- Support of output rates of up to 8 MHz per channel
- Output provided to a 16-bit D/A, running at an output rate of 2 MHz (16-bits).
- 24-bits of “digital” address information, along with strobes and enables, is retrieved
and sent in a time-synchronous fashion with respect to the D/A data.
- Operator control over total application via PC GUI, including:
- Set the number of channels
- Start output
- Run basic BIT
- Load data into the Bulk Storage
- Maximized dynamic range via minimized noise received at the optical array
- Up to 4 MHz of signal bandwidth with up to 30 feet of cable to the optical emitter
array, at very low noise.
- Flexible architecture provides for channel count, bandwidth and processing configuration
scalability.
- Standard development tools and documentation include:
- VxWorks for the Power PC target along with a full license
- VxWorks Board Support Package (BSP) for the Power PC target
- A full set of Xylinx tools for modifying the functionality of the D/A boards
