Dual-Redundant, Fault-Tolerant, Multi-Channel Recorder
System 3510
Records 64 channels of RS-232, 16 channels of RS-530 and one IRIG-B, IRIG-E or GPS
time-code channel
DSPCon's System 3510 is a robust,
dual-redundant, industrial PC/GUI-based recording system that records 64 channels
of RS-232, 16 channels of RS-530 and one IRIG-E time code channel. The master/slave
components of the system are completely fault tolerant. That is, should the master
half fail for any reason, the slave half immediately starts to record automatically.
The reverse is also true. No user data can be lost at any time.
The system is designed so that its RS-232 channels baud sync automatically and inform
the operator of each channel's baud rate. The data recorded is multiplexed on a
single, removable media device along the 1-pulse-per-second time code, while the
system's Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) provide the operator with essential channel
and system status. Additionally, the system is capable of recording for 48 hours,
at the maximum data rate, on all channels, before changing tapes. Should the operator
be unavailable to change tapes, the slave system will take over recording for the
master, thereby further assuring zero loss of data.
The System 3510 is ideally suited for use in multi-channel, digital data acquisition
applications such as air space radar. In this application, the System 3510 provides
a third source of information in addition to data provided by “black box” and cockpit
voice recorders. The data collected by the System 3510 can be used to determine
the environmental conditions that an aircraft was subjected to-including weather
conditions, other aircraft…even the presence of birds. With this additional data,
a more comprehensive analysis of contributing factors is possible, resulting in
a timelier, more accurate conclusion to an investigation.
